Expand your rehabilitation skills by learning how to undertake water based massage and light physio exercises in the water. The properties of water make an excellent environment for massage to take place, it enables older and weaker patients to stand for longer periods of time and helps all patients relax and the body accept the benefits of the massage techniques easier.

The morning is an interactive theory session: covering:

Legal Responsibilities

Anatomy as it relates to massage

Indications and contraindications for massage

Assessment of Muscles and ROM

Massage Techniques (students will practice on each other to identify depth of technique and pressure before applying them to the dogs)

The afternoon will offer practical opportunity to be in the pool assessing and massaging dogs -and observing others work in the aquatic environemnt – bring your wet suits and towels

The day will close with a written quiz and a case study so that knowledge obtained on the day can be confirmed

The day is presented by Veterinary Physiotherapist Lisa Graham Vet. Tech, Dip.A.Physio, FdSc, IAAT, RAMP she currently works on land and in water with massage and physio techniques to offer a wider scope of rehabilitation options to her clients

This CPD day does not provide a formal qualification in canine massage nor does it enable the attendee to undertake land based massage work on any species
